17 - 17 Concentric Circles of Care in Community Engaged Oral Health Systems

Description: U.S. oral health systems do not provide access to oral health services and oral health for the majority of the population. While there have been many efforts to bring oral health services into community locations, they tend to emphasize the role of health professionals, provide limited services, and are isolated from other system components.

Advances in materials and techniques, ability to integrate components of a community care system, use of non-professional personnel, data management and AI technologies, and ability to create fully connected and integrated systems, have made it possible to develop full Community Engaged Oral Health Systems using a Concentric Circles Model.

This roundtable session will describe and present examples and policy considerations for this model where dental offices and clinics are the inner circle, professional personnel in community settings are the next concentric circle, and non-professional personnel in community settings comprise the outer fully integrated and connected circle.
