Description: As research on the relationship between oral and systemic health grows, the increasing need for integrated education is essential to adequately prepare health professionals to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Interprofessional Education (IPE) involves learning between two or more professions with the goal of improving the delivery of quality whole-person care and services. This collaboration helps future oral health professionals recognize the interconnectedness of oral and systemic health and ensures that oral health is integrated into the overall health management of patients, leading to better prevention, earlier detection of diseases, more coordinated care, and improved health outcomes. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Core Competencies. They will also learn about specific IPE activities that span the 4-year predoctoral curriculum at two US dental schools. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss challenges and best practices on implementing IPE with other attendees and speakers.
