Michelle McQuistan, DDS, MS, is an Associate Professor and the Officer for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. She received her DDS and MS in Dental Public Health from the University of Iowa and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate program at the University of Florida-Jacksonville Clinic. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health and is past-President of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. From 2019-2020, Dr. McQuistan served as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. McQuistan has had extensive teaching experience at the University of Iowa serving as the course director for D1-D4 courses in Preventive and Community Dentistry and within the Dental Public Health residency program. She also provides clinical care in the Faculty General Practice and supervises D4 dental students in the Geriatric and Special Needs clinic. Dr. McQuistan’s research focuses on access to care with an emphasis in 2 main areas: oral health literacy, and dental students’ and dentists’ willingness to treat underserved populations.
