Description: Oral health leaders can employ practical frameworks that describe the public value of their efforts and its impact on communities to win policymakers over. Public value advocacy is at the core of winning their hearts and minds to move oral health policies and funding forward. This roundtable will teach you how to use a practical framework to engage executive and legislative branches effectively and activate like-minded groups to create a chorus of in-favor voices for your proposals. You will learn the basics of the Executive, Legislative, Pressure Group (ELP) Framework, how to develop advocacy strategies, and how to synthesize them into your master Advocacy Playbook. Participants are asked to bring a topic they would like to explore for hands on work in this session. You will learn techniques and tools for background policy research; how to identify key influencers in-favor, neutral or against your proposal; criteria to prioritize stakeholders for outreach; how to develop tailored engagement strategies for each stakeholder; and how to establish a framework for continuous monitoring and analysis of government policies, political dynamics, and regulatory changes to ensure proactive and informed advocacy efforts. Participants will walk away with a draft advocacy playbook. They can then enrich the playbook to remain current and in sync with government policies, political trends, and the regulatory landscape necessary to remain relevant and responsive.
